“Ndigbo have abandoned the legacies and visions of Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu (Eze Igbo Gburugburu). Even his image, personality and name are no longer respected or regarded in the political, economical, social, traditional and religious lives of Ndigbo.
“Ojukwu and our ancestors are not happy with Igbo leaders,” the MASSOB leader said in the statement.
The group said Igbo had caused even more harm to themselves than the Federal Government had.
According to the MASSOB leader, Igbo put in more effort towards the development of foreign lands while neglecting Igbo land.
He also decried what he described as the peoples nonchalant attitude towards their ancestors.
“Ndigbo have committed more harmful, and sacrilegious crimes against Igbo land with their nonchalant attitude and selfishness against our ancestors.
“Seventy-five per cent of infrastructural, economic, academic, commercial, technological and agricultural developments in Lagos, Kano, Abuja, Kaduna, Jos, Ibadan, Ilorin and other major cities outside Igbo land are established by Ndigbo,” he said.
MASSOB insisted that Igbo leaders must ‘sit up’ and advance the interests of their people.
“The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra has reiterated our earlier demand that Igbo political, religious, economic and traditional leaders must sit up now in advancement of Igbo political, economic, traditional and religious emancipation from Nigeria’s anti-Igbo policy of subjection,” Madu added.
