An elder statesman and Former aviation minister, Chief Mbazulike Amechi has joined other numerous Nigerians to express his dissatisfaction on the current state of the nation.
In a video clip obtained by our correspondent from Channels Television Independence day programme, titled "Nigeria @56", which was aired on the 1st of October 2016, Chief Amechi lamented that all the sacrifices he made with his departed colleagues to put the country in a good shape, have been rubbished by those he referred to as "bandits and criminals" who found themselves in the positions of authority. “The rainy day has come, we have no umbrella to run for shelter, neither do we have any room in which to run for shelter."
“The Nigerian people are exposed to starvation and everything is collapsing in the country”
“Electricity has collapsed. There's nothing like security, no water supply, nothing is working in the country”, he said.
“When people like me look back to our sacrifices, the risk, the dangerous confrontations we conquered in other to bring independent in this country, and to see how it's been devastated and destroyed by criminals and bandits who found themselves in the positions of authority in the country, I don't feel happy about it.
“I'm very sure that my colleagues and compatriots who have departed, if they are in the position to see what is happening right now in the country, will be more bitter than I am. Nigeria at 56 is a total waste”, he added.
