Why We Need An Urgent Executive Overhaul In Nigeria — APGA Chieftain, Felix Odimegwu

Engr. Felix
An APGA Chieftain, Engr. Felix Odimegwu( Omus) has once again expressed his concern over the competence of some ministers in President Buhari's led government. He called for an overhaul in the system and the need for restructuring. Read below.

"I do not sincerely think that we have a good minister of information, minister of education, minister of youths and sports .These ministries need an executive overhaul. I think that putting power, works and housing under one ministry is too cumbersome for one person to handle irrespective of who this person is.

Even the best Brain and hands can fail under undue severe pressure especially when overloaded. I think the economic team needs an overhaul or maybe additional hands to help formulate resounding policies. Presently what we have is a collection of trial and error postulations which do not mean well for an economy as big as Nigeria.

And lastly this government needs to borrow leave from GEJ govt in areas where they succeeded especially where stability of polity and economy is concerned. What is needed is not the blame game but finding lasting solutions to this present recession quagmire .

Fighting corruption is commendable but ruining the economy is the worst corruption breeder. We must be able to strike a good balance between the two. Building the economy is more paramount than fighting to contain corruption even though both are good.

Agriculture remains the most viable option and alternative to crude oil. This must not only be encouraged and emphasized but must form the central fulcrum of this administration.

The resort to voting huge funds into oil exploration in d lake Chad region should not take centre stage as it will continue to stagnate our resolve to be a self reliant nation. This govt must breed , think , say , and do agriculture in almost all their "objectum".

The menace of Fulani herdsmen and the silence of govt over the ordeals of farmers and communities so ravaged only speak of hypocrisy and one-sidedness from govt. Cattle rearing is good.

Crop farming is equally good. One should not destroy the other. Each rearer should graze his flock not with people's farms. Govt must rise up to condemn crime at all costs and at all levels.

There is absolutely no need for herdsmen to go about with AK47 and other dangerous weapons since they have the tendency of wielding them at any slightest provocation. (Or would one also advise the farmers to carry AK47 to their farms instead of hoes and diggers).

Finally , the call for restructuring of Nigeria is indeed a noble one. Mere looking at the political structure of Nigeria as presently constituted will leave no one in doubt that this Nation needs to sit on a round table to discuss it's existence without fear or favour.

It is much evident and glaring to any naked eye that there is grave level of cheating and fraud orchestrated by the present socio-political structure of Nigeria as regions are not treated equally where one region is seen to dominate and gain more than another region not by hardwork or natural endowment but simply by   opportunistic dominance.

Ignoring this call is simply postponing the evil day. Let the leaders be wise."

Engr Felix Odimegwu.
