Some of the things that happen in Nigeria are indescribable. I hope this is not true.
Federal Government is declaring Wednesday and Thursday public holiday after earlier declaring Tuesday and Wednesday as public holiday. With this development it means that we will have three days of publi holiday.
This effectively shuts down economic activities for 72 hours in a country with an economy that is seriously in recession.
Do these people stretch their reasoning beyond winning and dinning?
Why declaring Thursday public holiday after Tuesday was made a work free day?
If the Moon fails to appear this week we may have a week-long public holiday.
I promised myself to face my own small wahala and not make any online post this week........ and now this came up. You see how these guys messed up my resolution by not doing the right things?
If these guys at Aso Rock have the slightest understanding of the negative financial consequences just a loss of one day has on businesses and the economy in general, they will have a rethink each time they take such decisions.
Will the Ports Authority and Customs not count the extra day in charging demmurage at the seaports?
Do they know how many international funds transfers this will keep on hold before dropping, and the overall impacts?
Do they know the financial intermediation in the financial sector this will delay and its impacts?
Do they know logistics that will be put on hold before delivering due to the holiday?
Do they know how many employers they are forcing to pay workers for three unproductive days?
I think people who have not run any business in their lives should not be allowed into public offices.
