Pipeline vandalism: NSCDC arrests 2 vandals, recovers 3,000 jerry cans in Ogun...................

In its bid to stem the any act of economic sabotage, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ogun State command, has arrested two people identified as Afees Olohunwa (33) and Ayoola James (21), over alleged pipeline vandalism.

As gathered, the suspects who were apprehended at Oluwo- Ifote village in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of the state, specialised in destroying pipelines along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Items recovered from the suspects include 16 vehicles, motorcycles and 3,000 jerry cans, some of which had been filled with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), ready for transportation before the hands of the law caught up on them.

The state commandant of the NSCDC, Mr. Akinwande Aboluwoye, who conducted newsmen round the scene of the crime, explained that his men swooped on the saboteurs in the early hours of Friday, adding that some of the suspected escaped while effort are on to get them arrested.

He said that the duo of Olohunwa and James would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigation by the agency.

"From main junction to this place (vandalised spot) is about 10km. We arrested two suspects and their jerry cans are still being counted. We have about nine vehicles and seven motorcycles," he stated.
