A crude oil export line belonging to oil giant, Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), was at the wee hours of Friday blown up by the Niger Delta Avengers.
The export line is situated at Forcados in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, where Shell's oil facilities are heavily domiciled.
Like before, the rampaging members of the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) at 5:22a.m have claimed responsibility in its Twitter handle, @NDAvengers.
The group said it attacked the facility due to the refusal of Shell to heed its warning not to carry out repair works on the damaged pipeline.
The tweet reads: "At 3:00 am today @NDAvengers blow up the SPDC forcados 48" Exportline. We warned SPDC not to go ahead with repair works but they refuse."
A worker on duty at Forcados at the time of the destruction confirmed the incident, saying it was another trying period for the company which just only recently carried out repairs on it.
"The blast was ear-deafening. It sent jitters down our spines. We thank God there is no casualty," the source noted.
No official reaction from the management of DPDC was handy as of the time of filing this report.
