2Face receives honorary degree

Nigerian music icon Innocent Ujah Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has been conferred with an honorary degree by the Igbinedion University, Okada, thus becoming the first Nigerian artiste to receive such a honour from an indigenous university.

2Baba received the honour on Tuesday, 9th May, 2016 at The university’s main auditorium in Okada, Edo State during the17th Founder’s Day ceremony witnessed by a large audience. The auditorium, venue of the event was filled to maximum capacity with special appearances made by Prof. (Sir) Victor Uwaifo and a popular comedian, Maleke.

The master’s degree was presented to 2Baba by the former governor of Edo state, Chief Lucky Igbinedion, who is also the deputy vice-chancellor of the university. 2Baba’s wife, Annie Idibia, was also present to witness the historic conferment and was all smiles as she accompanied her husband to receive the honorary degree. Earlier, on their arrival in the state, the couple paid a courtesy visit on the founder of the university and Esama of Benin Kingdom, Sir (Chief) Dr. G. O. Igbinedion.

With this latest achievement, 2Baba continues his astonishing momentum in 2016, having already released three singles and bagged several endorsements. He recently announced that he will be headlining the Lagos leg of “Buckwyld ‘n’ Breathless: The Disruption” this year. He also announced a competition that would see him take some fans on a week-long trip to Nairobi, Kenya. His latest single titled ‘Oya Come Make We Go’ features fellow Buckwyld ‘n’ Breathless headliner, Sauti Sol, and was released last month. The latest release has been subject of rave reviews from fans and music aficionados.
