PHOTOS: "Bishop" Aloysius Ikegwuonu Visits Victims Of Ozubulu Church Shooting As Youths Protest

The founder of Ebubechukwu Uzo Foundation, High Chief Aloysius Ikegwuonu, a.k.a Bishop on Monday, paid a surprise visit to victims of church shooting which threw the entire nation into mourning on the 6th of August 2017 at St. Phillip's catholic church, Ofufe-Amakwa Ozubulu, Anambra state.

Preliminary reports released by the Anambra state government stated that the attack was an aftermath of a feud between "two brothers" while multiple reports claimed the gunmen were after the benefactor of the church, Chief Aloysius Ikegwuonu.

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Mr Garba Umar corroborated the stories by attributed the gunmen attack  to a ‘gang war’.

The Police Commissioner, who condemned the attack as sacrilege, noted that the shooting was a reprisal attack after the perpetrators traced their victim to the church

He said: “Information revealed that this (attack) is not unconnected to a kind of a ‘gang war’ between indigenes of the state – the children of the same village – who are engaged in a warfare outside Nigeria, precisely in South Africa; there were killings earlier and this is a reprisal attack.

“They (the gunmen) went to the church where he (the victim) was suspected to be undergoing the process of worship; the assassins fired and killed some people and that is the situation," Mr Umar told Channels Television.

The Police are yet to conclude investigation into the unfortunate incident.

Meanwhile, Ozubulu youths took to the street on a peaceful protest, demanding answers on what they termed "an act of sacrilege" in their land.

They were received by the traditional ruler of the town Igwe F.N Oruche who assured them that those who were involved in the dastardly act directly or indirectly would be brought to book.
