'I Don't Want To End Up Like Mourinho' – Chelsea Manager, Conte

Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte has stated that he does not want to end up like Jose Mourinho in what could be taken as a dig at the former Blues manager.

Current Manchester United, Josè Mourinho was fired by Chelsea in 2015 after leading the club to 16th place, one season after helping them win the Premier League title.

"Two years ago Chelsea finished 10th; that cannot happen again," Conte told reporters after Chelsea lost 2-1 to Inter Milan in a pre-season International Champions Cup game in Singapore.

Conte led Chelsea to the Premier League title last season in his first campaign and is keen on retaining the title, something that has not been done since Manchester United won three consecutive titles in 2007, 2008 and 2009.

"We know the difficulty and for sure we want to avoid the Mourinho season with Chelsea," the Italian added.

"The coaches of the previous two champions [Chelsea and Leicester] both lost their jobs [the next season] and we are working very well to find the best solutions and use them.

"We have a lot of young players and it is necessary to try and develop them."

The defeat to Inter was Chelsea's second straight loss in the ICC after they fell 3-2 to Bayern Munich on Tuesday, also in Singapore.
