The people of Ebenebe community in Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State have petitioned the state government over the abandoned Ezu-Agali bridge and the road that links five communities in the area with Enugu State.
The road and the bridge connect the communities of Ebenebe, Amansea, Ugbenu, Ugbene, Oba-Ofemili in Awka North Local Government Area, with Ezeagu and Ninth-Mile Corner in Enugu State.
In the petition dated July 3, 2017 and signed by Secretary General of Ebenebe Town Union, ETU, Chief Ken Nkwocha, the community said the road and the bridge were abandoned 10 years ago, adding that the people of the area have been going through a harrowing experience while using the road.
According to the petition, the road, which was started by former Governor Peter Obi 10 years ago had become a danger to the people because of lack of rails on the bridge, adding that the situation also posed a danger to vehicles plying the road.
