Governor Ikpeazu to give Local cattle farmers in Abia state N1 million grant each

The State Governor Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu has affirmed the readiness of the state government to support any Abian that will venture into cattle rearing business in the state with a grant of one million naira

The Governor made this assertion in a special  live interactive session on radio with Abians on Wednesday. He stated that as an alternative solution to reducing the incidence of herdsmen attack on farmers in the state, the government will consider supporting the rearing of Igbo cow and goats in the state so as to meet the demand for red meat, and make the business of bringing cows from the north unprofitable and in turn discourage it. Otherwise our people can eat chicken, fish and other sources of protein.

"We are ready to give a grant of one million naira to any farmer who is ready to go into rearing of Igbo cows, and goats in any part of the state."

The Governor encouraged farmers in animal husbandry to build ranches for their cattle's, positing that this will curb the menace of crop destruction by animal in the state.

The Governor reaffirmed the commitment of the state government to encouraging farmers in the state to thrive through her policies, programmes and grants.
