On Friday, 22nd September, 2017; majority of stakeholders from Nnewi South constituency II who reside in Lagos gathered at Protea Hotel, Ikeja Lagos for an interactive session with the Speaker of Anambra state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Rita Maduagwu.

The event which started with a dinner was primarily an interactive briefing on the Speaker's activities so far and that of the Anambra state government.

However, it can be termed successful as the participants were stunned and marveled at what the government has done for the people of Nnewi South constituency II.

Speaking during the event, Hon. Maduagwu lamented what she described as a communication gap between her and the masses based on her wonderful performances and the Anambra state government.

She said, "I'm not really happy that all I've done so far have been overshadowed by "internet tigers," those who go to social media and other means to write all sorts of negativity and lies without a common investigation. Though opposition must do their work.

"A lot of people do not understand my role as a legislator. I'm the Speaker for the whole state and not only my constituency. All we do is lobbying for the Executive arm of the government to complete, and with my efforts so far, the presence is being felt in all the towns within my constituency.

On why the roads and other projects were abandoned for a long time, Rt. Hon. Maduagwu said,

"Everyone is aware that Nigeria just came out of recession. There was paucity of funds on the side of the government. Anambra state is part of the country and wasn't left out but things are improving gradually and all the projects will soon be completed."

Many of the participants were amazed by all Rt. Hon. Maduagwu mentioned as projects currently ongoing.

The Transition Committee Chairman of Nnewi South, Hon. Felix Odimegwu (Omus) who was at the event implored the constituents to always appreciate Rt. Hon. Maduagwu for her numerous achievements so far. Other dignitaries at the event include: Chief Ralph Eze Okoli, Engr. Augustine Ilechukwu, Engr Celestine Emokai (Emcel), Chief Emma Nwachukwu (Onodugo N'Ukpor), Chief James Okwudili (Owelle Akwa-ihedi), Chief Imochuks (Ubadinaobi of Ebenator), Chief Francis Chukwudebelu (Ezeani Omenuko of Ukpor), Chief Kingsley Obiekwe (Onwa Ukpor) and so many others.

In reaction to what the Speaker narrated, Chief Augustine Ilechukwu and major stakeholder from Ukpor said, "when I was coming to this venue, I was fuming about the Speaker's alleged underperformance only to be stunned and silenced by her numerous unreported achievements".

Chief Ilechukwu therefore urged Rt. Hon. Maduagwu to do more and assured her of his support.

Also, in his reaction, Chief Edwin Udebuani advised the Speaker to try as much as possible to bridge the communication gap between her and the masses noting that someone like him was equally not aware of all the completed and ongoing projects she mentioned.

On whether the program was ill-timed, Chief Hyacinth Maduagwu stated that the interactive session wasn't the first of its kind as the Speaker has had many across Nnewi South constituency II.

Chief Edmund Nnaebuo Igbutu, the town union president of Ebenator Development Union Lagos branch said Rt. Hon Rita has done enough to be praised. Chief Igbutu further said some of those who felt aggrieved are just after their personal aggrandizement.

On the upcoming election, Chief Igbutu moved a motion for Gov. Willie Obiano's reelection which was unanimously adopted.
